Coco Cumbi

Promoting the Ecuadorian culture around the world

Our alpaca ponchos are so warm and soft. They make stunning Christmas gifts or presents for any occasion.

Perfect as an additional layer for cold nights or summer camping or a unique piece of clothing that can spice up your outfit and make you stand out - Coco Cumbi ponchos are great for men and women of any size.

You’ll be guaranteed warmth as these are designed for people who live in heights of 2,530 meters above sea level.

  • Soft - Alpaca wool is softer than any other alternative wool.
  • Light - because of the hollow space in alpaca fibres, our alpaca wool ponchos are light, so you'll feel comfortable wearing it all day long.
  • Warm - our alpaca ponchos are perfect for the colder seasons or those chilly summer camping nights. You'll be guaranteed warmth as these are designed for people who live at heights of 2,530 meters above sea level.
  • Hypoallergenic - because it doesn't contain lanolin, alpaca wool can be classified as a hypoallergenic material and is ideal for people with skin sensitivities.
  • Wicking - it allows moisture to evaporate quickly, so you stay dry and warm, especially if you enjoy being outdoors.
  • Unique - Coco Cumbi's ponchos are handmade by talented textile markers from Ecuador's Andes Highlands. We use natural sources, such as cochineal, achiote, and tocte, unique flora from the Andes, to give the Alpaca wool different shades of colour.
  • Versatile - our alpaca wool ponchos come in different shapes, styles and in one size suitable for both men and women. You can wear them as an outer layer to spice up your outfit or to warm up on a cold day.
  • Durable - our alpaca ponchos are of the highest quality, resistant to solar radiation and made using the same methods for hundreds of years. Three times stronger and seven times warmer than sheep's wool.

The gentlest method to clean your Alpaca sweater or poncho is by hand-washing. This will add many years of life to your alpaca clothing.

In order to extend the life of your alpaca product, here are some care instructions:

  • Kindly wash in warm water with mild soap and carefully rinse in the water of the same temperature.
  • Alpaca clothing is very delicate, especially when its fabric is wet. It can stretch out of shape. Never twist it and softly press all the water excess from the clothing.
  • Once the Alpaca clothing has been washed, lay it on a dry towel and roll up the item with the towel. Gently press to remove the excess of water and repeat this again with a second dry towel.
  • Lay down the clothing on a fresh and dry towel. It is recommendable to do this on a flat surface.
  • Once your alpaca clothing is dry, fold it gently. Never hand-dry your alpaca clothing as it may stretch and damage the shape.
